Leanh Nguyen, PhD, with the Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of TortureLeanh Nguyen, PhD, is a former refugee of the Vietnam War, and is now a psychoanalyst practicing in New York City. She holds a PhD in clinical psychology. Her clinical work is devoted to severe trauma and refugee/immigrant mental health issues.

Dr. Nguyen has been on staff at the Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture since 2000, where she has been involved in the intensive treatment and forensic evaluation of victims of torture and persecution from all over the world. More recently, her clinical and advocacy focus has been concentrating on the oppression of sexual rights and human rights violations. Her consulting work with human rights organizations and her psychoanalytic writings in particular, pay attention to the ethical-cultural dimensions of evaluations and interventions in human rights advocacy.
