Christian Pross, MD, of the Berlin Center for the Treatment of Torture Victims (BZFO)Christian Pross, MD, of the Berlin Center for the Treatment of Torture Victims (BZFO) is a family medicine specialist who received his medical education at Heidelberg, Germany, and the Bristol (UK) Medical School. He did research and authored numerous publications from 1983 to 1989 on the history of Nazi medical abuses and German Jewish refugee physicians in exile. He is the co-founder of the BZFO and served as its director from 1992 to 2003. During that time Dr. Pross did research and published on the psychotraumatology of victims of communist repression in East Germany.

He was certified as a psychotherapist in psychodynamic psychotherapy by the Berlin Medical Association in 2000, and was also certified by the German Society for Supervision as a supervisor for trauma therapists.

Dr. Pross has served in numerous capacities for the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims since 1995, including as a Council member of the IRCT network of treatment centers and a member of the Executive Committee. He has been a Board of Directors member of the BZFO since 2003. Dr. Pross is the author of many publications on the effects of torture.
